Rose Bowl Preview

 Surprisingly, not much has been decided yet, with only 3 games to go.  The games today were pretty much exactly what people though, so if you didn’t pick up maximum points on LSU, Tennessee and Oregon, you probably lost a little ground.  It’s probably why there’s still a chance for anyone not named Dennis R. to win this thing.

The other good news, at least for me, is that there is no longer a scenario that would require a tiebreaker.  I hate tiebreakers, so the fact that we won’t need one is great.  It’s a lot less likely given the amount of points in the Bowl pool, but every year, I dread needing to decide things doing that.

So, Dennis R. has now officially clinched one of the 3 payouts.  Ally H. has reached the 50% marker, and everyone else is lower.

If Michigan Wins:

Ally H. is eliminated from 1st, 2nd & 3rd place contention.

Dennis R. is eliminated from 3rd place contention.

Jason S. is eliminated from 3rd place contention.

Slave to Trends is eliminated from 2nd place contention.

If Alabama Wins:

Brian K. is eliminated from 1st & 3rd place contention.

Matt Mei. is eliminated from 2nd place contention.

Moochi the Man is eliminated from 1st & 3rd place contention.

This will be the first game of the season that has secondary repercussions.  For example,  Ally H. has Alabama winning this game for 31 points.  She also has Alabama winning the Championship game for another 35 points, so if she loses here. She essentially loses 66 points, which is why losing this game will eliminate her from any payout.

In another interesting wrinkle, if Michigan wins, Dennis R. gets 1 point, but he also is eliminated from 3^rd place contention because he will have clinched either 1^st or 2^nd.
