It's all over with, and for the 2 people that won, I hope
you enjoy the spoils of your picking. As
I mentioned yesterday, I'm pretty disappointed in having to pay out to only 2
people this year. This bowl pool had a
disturbing trend as 36 of the 89 sheets that were entered were multiples,
including 8 of the top 10 and 13 of the top 20.
I don't like this outcome at all, although I haven't decided
what to do about it. I'm debating the
idea of limiting people to one entry a piece next year. The goal for me is to make the pool as
enjoyable for as many people as possible.
If one person tries to corner the market by submitting virtually the
exact sheet multiple times and is successful, that is only entertaining for one
person at the end of the day.

That's all the stats I can think of off the top of my
head. I hope you had a good time, even
if you didn't win, and even if you were never in contention. If anyone can think of an interesting stat
that may shed some light on the pool, let me know. I'm sure there are a lot of ways to look at
this data. If anyone wants a copy of the
spreadsheet, let me know as well. I
built a lot of interesting things in there.
I was also glad to see that no one stiffed me this year (so
far - some money is still coming in). I
think that my improvement to the accounting worked pretty well as I was able to
send reminders to people. Also, the blog
was a little hit and miss this time around.
A lot of people didn't know it was there and were wondering where the
updates were. I have to do a better job
of telling people that it exists or else I'm going to be fielding a lot more
"I haven't been getting updates" inquiries in the future.
So that's it for this year.
Congratulations to the winners.
Next year will be different because of the playoff, but I'm sure we'll
figure it out. In the mean time, feel
free to bone up on College Basketball.
Thanks,
Klei
