Good evening. Another
day, another 3 bowl games down. Can you
believe we still have 25 games to go?!
That seems like a lot to me. I
was watching the QuickLane Bowl today and it occurred to me that there is a
pretty vast difference between the teams that get to play in the NCAA
basketball tournament and the teams that get to play in Bowl games. Every year, I hear a theory that you should
at least be .500 in conference play to make the basketball tournament, but
Boston College was something like 2-6 in conference play this year, and there
they were, taking on a Maryland team that really wasn't much better. I think that's probably why pools like this
exist. Why else would anyone watch these
teams?
Anyway, there were 3 games, and compliments of a last second
miss on a potentially game winner FG from Miami (Ohio), everyone got some
points. All 3 favorites won today, so
the average sheet won 2.07 games, and 47.09 points. The average sheet also lost 12.39 points
today.
We have a new leader, since Freitag B. chose Miami (Ohio)
for 34 points today. That current leader
is Mark ESPN. I think I mentioned this
before, but this is the sheet I entered copying straight out of an ESPN article
I read. I typically enter picks like
this just to prove the point that "experts" on TV don't know much
more than the rest of us, but maybe they do this year. There's a lot of games left, so who knows....
12 sheets went perfect today, so it should be no surprise
that they all filled out the top 5 point gainers today. Here were the people that gained the most
points:
4. Brett W. (73)
4. Dan Dz. (73)
3. Marc S. (74)
2. Becky H. (78)
1. Chad L. (90)
Good picking to those people. Here are the updated standings:

But the beat goes on tomorrow, as we have another 4
games. There will be a lot of points up
for grabs tomorrow, as 3/4 of the games are in the top 10 for points wagered,
and the fourth is 16th. It also means
that a lot of the people picked the same teams...
Cactus Bowl:
Vegas Line: Boise State -7.5
Median pick: Boise
State for 28
Picks:
Boise State: 52
(average points: 26.73)
Baylor: 4 (average points: 27.50)
Heart of Dallas Bowl:
Vegas Line: Army -10
Median Pick: Army for
19.5
Picks:
Army: 45 (average
points: 24.38)
North Texas: 11 (average points: 20.91)
Holiday Bowl:
Vegas Line: Washington State -10
Median pick: Washington State for 30
picks:
Washington State:
52 (average points: 28.35)
Minnesota: 4 (average
points: 12.75)
Military Bowl:
Vegas Line: Temple -11.5
Median pick: Temple
for 32
Picks:
Temple: 53 (average points: 30.02)
Wake Forest: 3 (average points: 7.67)
Like I said, a lot of points, but given that 39 sheets have
the same 4 teams (Boise State, Army, Washington State & Temple), there may
not be much movement in the standings, unless there is a big upset, which you
know I almost always root for.
Good luck everyone!!!
