Las Vegas Bowl stats

But wait...  There's another early game today.  The Las Vegas Bowl pits the only ranked teams of the day as USC plays Fresno State, appropriately, in Las Vegas.  The Vegas Line on this game is USC by 6.5 points, which would make you think that the median would be USC for 21 points.  However, our pool pickers have a median of USC for only 2 points, with an average pick of USC for 1.58 points.  That's considerably lower than the Vegas line would indicate it should be.  Maybe people were enticed by the gaudy Fresno State record (11-1), or maybe they remember the USC Sun Bowl disaster that scuttled many a sheet last year.

Either way, this is the game with the most points risked on it today, even though that only makes it good enough for the 23rd most risked bowl of the season.  The distribution of picks is:

USC: 48 picks (avg points: 14.88)
Fresno State: 36 picks (avg. points: 16.14)
Just as the first game, the people that took the dog, like them for more than the chalk eating weasels that took USC.

By the way, the Las Vegas bowl is brought to us by "Royal Purple".  I have no idea what that product is.  I'd like to think that the Bowl game is brought to you by a color.

There are 12 people that have this game in their top 10:
USC (Adam E, Bosun Ava, Brad R., Greg F., Sally R., Sammie B.)
Fresno State (Ally H., Becky H., Dennis R., DesGru, Matt J., Max W.)

Good luck to everyone.  I'll have more stats after the games are over,  although my plan for the afternoon is to skip football altogether and go to the movies with my wife.  For now, I've got a pizza waiting for me....

Good luck!!!!
