Did anyone actually watch the Boca Raton Bowl tonight? How much of it did you actually watch? I watched the first two drives of the game,
and then watched an episode of "Stranger Things". I got back just in time to watch Florida
Atlantic go 83 yards in less than a minute to take a 21-3 lead at
halftime. I didn't watch any of the
second half, and it looks like I didn't need to. The final score was 50-3. I seriously doubt there will be a more
lopsided game this entire bowl season.
The 23 point spread could have been doubled, and Florida Atlantic still
would've covered.
That's good news for everyone that took FAU for 40 points
(which was about 1/2 the field). It's
also good news in that Clucko the Chicken took Akron, so he dropped like a rock
in the standings.

So, good job to Tim and Dustin for being atop the
rankings. I'm sure there are a ton of
people that would love to trade places with you. Overall it was a good night for picking. The overall net point average went up to
10.72, up 23.12 from before the game. We
are finally on the plus side!!
Tomorrow's game may not effect that one way or the other
though. The Frisco Bowl is on deck. For those of you not familiar with the Frisco
Bowl, neither was I. Apparently, it was
the former Miami Beach Bowl, which was moved from scenic Miami Beach to scenic
Frisco, Texas. I'd never heard of
Frisco, and I hear it is a suburb of Dallas, so I'm guessing it's not as
glamorous as Miami Beach.
Anyway, it's not a big deal game in the grand scheme of
things, but it's the only game in town tomorrow. It pits SMU vs Louisiana Tech, which are
probably both within driving distance, so maybe there will be some people in
the stands. Based on points wagered,
this game is the 2nd lowest point total we've had so far (only the Camellia
Bowl was lower). It's 35th in points
wagered with an overall total of 941 (16.22 average).
Here's the graph:
This one is a little all over the board, with the bulk of
the picks coming in the SMU for 4-26 range.
Here are the particulars:
Vegas Line: SMU (-6)
Median: SMU for 10.5
points
Mean: SMU for 9
points
Picks for SMU: 41
(Average: 17.85 points)
Points for SMU: 732
(29th overall)
Picks for Louisiana
Tech: 17 (Average: 12.29 points)
Points for Akron: 209
(68th overall)
People with SMU as
a top 10 pick: 6
People with Louisiana
Tech as a Top 10 pick: 2 (Ally H., Joel S. #3)
If Louisiana Tech pulls this one off, they will take over
from Middle Tennessee as the team with the fewest points wagered on them to
win. That being said, I usually pull for
Ally H. in these pools, and this game seems eerily similar to the 4 upset games
we had on Saturday, so I'm hoping that the La Tech can pull off an upset. At the very least, it should be a better game
than the Boca Raton Bowl tonight.
Good Luck everyone!!!!
