Finally!!! We had the biggest upset of the tournament. Unfortunately, it came at the hands of the team that I had pegged as a sleeper, but at least it happened. We got a double-digit seed in the Sweet 16. It’s not all chalk!!!
I am going to take this lesson from that game. Last year I won it by picking based on a
teams offensive efficiency rating.
Whoever had the highest rating, that’s who I picked to advance. St. John’s had a god-awful offensive efficiency
rating. I mean, they were in the bottom
50 for 3-point shooting. Watching that
game, and seeing how many missed layups they had, not to mention how they
couldn’t make any 3s. I just don’t see
myself picking teams like that in the future.
The NCAA is not kind to teams that can’t score.

I want to take a moment to point out the usefulness of the
net points vs the total points. If you
just look at the total points, you would think Luis B. #3 or Daisy N. #10 were
doing pretty good, since they are sitting in 3rd and 7th
in points respectively. However, both of
those brackets had St. John’s going really far, so are much less healthy than
they appear. Luis B. #3 is in 168th
place in net points and Daisy N. #10 is in 238th. That probably closer to where they will end
up with the absence of St. John’s.
Also, we are down to only 28 people that can win the West
region. There is always one region that
produces strange results. Maybe it’s the
West this year. We shall see….

This seems like a pretty even game. Both teams are pretty comparable. Both were in that 12-20 ranking all season
long. The big difference that I can see
is that Michigan won the Big 10 tournament and Texas A&M didn’t really come
close. Maybe that’s not much of a
difference. Apparently it isn’t because
more people took Michigan even though they are technically the underdog
here. That may be more a reflection of me
knowing more people from Michigan than from Texas. I’m hoping it is at least as good a game as
the last one.

Well, you gotta be loving life if you are in this game. The winner gets Arkansas, instead of St. John’s. This whole bottom half of the West seems wide
open to me now. I have no idea who is
going to take it. I could easily see
Drake winning this game. Why would you
bet against Drake at this point. They pretty
handily beat Missouri in the first round, and they have a team that has more or
less already won a National Championship, albeit at a D2 level. Still, that’s more experience than most teams
have. I’m really hoping for a Drake
upset here. More chaos please!!!!!
