Good morning, everyone. I have to admit that I did not expect the UConn / Florida game to be as good as it turned out to be. For most of the second half, I was genuinely excited to see the biggest upset of the tournament. There was a point late in the 2nd half, where I think UConn was up 2. Alex Karaban had what looked like a wide open dunk, and tried some kind of reverse layup that looked really wild. That felt like a turning point to me. I think not long after that, Florida hit some shots and made some steals and were suddenly up 6 points. That was a game effort by UConn. If you are going to beat the 2 time defending champs, it’s probably not going to be as easy as I was thinking it would be. Good job by them, and good job to Florida as well. Fun game to watch – even if there was no upset.
That does mean that there are no Big East teams left in the tournament. I would argue that the way to judge a
conference if the number of teams that pulled upsets vs the number of teams
that were upset. By that measure, the
Big East was 1-1. St. John’s lost a game
they should have won, but Creighton won a game they should have lost. The rest of the teams went as far as their seeding
said they should be.

This is the biggest point spread of the day, so why is it
getting it’s own time slot? Because it’s
Duke and CBS loves Cooper Flagg. There is
a good argument to be made that he is the best player in college
basketball. Ken Pom has him as the
player of the year. Baylor also has a
potential NBA lottery pick in VJ Edgecombe, so hopefully that means the play
will be at a pretty high level. I really
don’t like Baylor in this game. I didn’t
like them against Mississippi State either, but we all know how well my picks
have been. Honestly, if it looks close,
I am going to pull for the Bears to spring an upset. I know myself well enough to know that. Plus, I usually am pretty happy when Duke
gets knocked out of the tournament – even though I’m pretty sure I have them
winning at least one of my entries.
