Too much chalk today. All 4 games have gone to the better seeded team. All but the UConn / Florida game was kind of boring. It’s never that interesting when the closest one team gets in the second half is about 7-10 points. That’s not all that fun to watch. I remember one March Madness year where there were all sorts of overtime games. Those were fun games to watch. Now I don’t think we’ve been anywhere close to getting even one overtime game.
To make it worse, the Sweet 16 is set for the Midwest
region, and it is a 1, 2 ,3 and 4 seed.
Yawn…. I thought that region was
the weakest of them all, but yet all 4 top seeds made it to the Sweet 16. To be honest, I’m not sure we are going to
get a wacky region. Then again, there’s
always hope for the West.

It looks like Colorado State has a 2 point lead with 12
minutes to go!!! We may have an upset on
our hands!!! If not an upset, at least a
watchable game. This matchup kind of
sucks because I like both of these teams.
I would much rather see both of these teams advance that say Purdue or
Kentucky. Colorado State is one of 2 remaining
non-power 5 conference teams, and they are both from the Mountain West. I hope they can hold on.

I fully suspect Iowa State will win this one in one thos e
boring games where they jump out to a 10 point lead at halftime, extend that
lead to about 16 in the second half.
Despite the announcers best efforts to make the game interesting, Ole
Miss only cute the lead to 8 before Iowa State pulls away at he end and wins by
about 20. Stop me if you’ve heard this
one before. I’d be happy to be
wrong. Then again, am I going to cheer
too hard for a team that has as its mascot someone that took up arms against
the US government? Probably not. So, Go Cyclones?

I grew up in Michigan.
I have a lot of friends that went to Michigan State. They usually have teams I like. I’m sure New Mexico is a fine school in a
picturesque state, but I am pulling for the Spartans in this one.

This will never stop being strange to me. Was it just a year ago that these two teams
were in the same conference? Let’s pour
one out for the Pac-12. Now they are in
the Big 12 and Big 10, which also seems strange to me. Eventually we are just going to have 1 giant
power conference and a bunch of smaller conferences. The 1 giant conference will act like a cabal
to keep all the smaller conference teams from getting at large bids. They may even just decide to jettison the
idea that other conferences deserve a shot at the Championship and declare that
the winner of the super-conference is that National Champion and only have a
super conference tournament. It’s not
too hard to see any of that happening.
It will be sad, but it might happen.
Anyway, this is a 4/5 game, so it will go a long way towards
determining tiebreakers at the end of this thing.
