If you are curious who got knocked out of contention because of the Florida win, the data from yesterday is accurate for that. Please refer to that post if you are curious.
As for the nightcap, I think it was a fascinating game. I can't think of a time in the second half where either team was more than 5 points up. It seemed like both teams had a reasonable shot at winning it, but that Kaminsky guy for Wisconsin was unstoppable.
I also like the fact that BW3 must have paid for some kind of special OT airtime because whenever they go into OT, the first commercial you see is for them. I was wondering about that in the opening rounds, but seeing it again today just confirms my suspicion.
Anyway, if you are curious to who was eliminated from what because of Arizona, yesterday's post still holds, but there are probably more that are eliminated because of the combination of Dayton and Arizona losing that weren't captured with just Arizona. Here are the Arizona eliminations:

That's a bigger list than I posted yesterday, so make sure you check there if you are curious if Arizona cost you any money.
Starting the day, we had 75 brackets eligible for 4 places. After the Florida win, we were down to 64 brackets. After the Wisconsin win, we are now down to only 38 brackets that can still make any of the 4 places. That's about a 50% drop in brackets, but we are still a long way from finishing when you consider that in the end there will only be 4. You are doing exceptionally well if you are still alive right now, as only about 15% of the field is alive.
Speaking of which, 49 brackets are now to the point where they can get no more points. Howard S. #3 leads that group with 72 total points (currently 43rd). Obviously all of those brackets are eliminated from all contention.
We are down to only 14 people that can still win it all. The thing about those 14 people is that there is no one that has more than one entry on the list. It is 14 different people, which makes it interesting. I think it's also fun because many of the people that are still alive are people that have been entering the pool for many years. Here's the list:
1. Mark N. #1: 18.75% |
2. Ray W. #3: 12.5% |
2. Josiah T. #4: 12.5% |
2. Ally H.: 12.5% |
2. Ben J. #3: 12.5% |
6. Daisy N. #5: 4.6875% |
6. Chad L. #2: 4.6875% |
6. Zachary V.: 4.6875% |
9. Miguel D.: 3.125% |
9. Marissa W. #2: 3.125% |
9. Andrzej R.: 3.125% |
9. Brent E. #3: 3.125% |
9. Joe K. #2: 3.125% |
14. Dan S.: 1.5625% |
I like to pull for people I know, so I'm particularly happy to see people like Dan S. on the list. I also am happy to see Joe K still alive as he was the coordinator for me at my old job. It would be nice to stop back over and hand over a big wad of cash to him. Ally H. is also a fun person to have here as she is my friends daughter. I commented on how well she was doing earlier. I hope she's enjoying this great run she's on. Daisy finished in the money last year and Brent has won it in years past, so they clearly have the touch with these things. Good luck to everyone, but I definitely will be pulling for certain people (especially since everyone in my family is out).
Here are the people alive for 2nd place:
1. Daisy N. #5: 15.625% |
2. John M. #1: 12.5% |

5. Chad L. #2: 7.8125% |
5. Zachary V.: 7.8125% |
7. Joe K. #2: 6.25% |
7. Andrzej R.: 6.25% |
9. Miguel D.: 3.125% |
9. Mark N. #1: 3.125% |
9. Ray W. #3: 3.125% |

22. Matt J. #1: 1.0416% |
22. Scott Hass.: 1.0416% |
A special shout out to Scott Hass. who is still alive for 4th. He used to run a pool at my old work for many years. One of the few things I miss about that place was discussing the pool with people like you. Good job being alive for this long. I wish you continued luck.

Zachary V. is eliminated from 1st & 2nd place contention. |
For only 38 brackets alive, this seems like a lot of carnage to me. It also looks like we are getting to some strange eliminations, as the points become bigger, it makes it harder to maintain eligibility for multiple places. Take Joe K. #2 for instance. If UConn wins, he's eliminated from 1st place. If MSU wins, he's eliminated from 3rd place.
Well it could be a glorious day for the state of Michigan tomorrow and the Big 10 if both Michigan and MSU make it to the Final 4. I can't imagine why I wouldn't pull for that, being from Michigan myself. Plus, my hatred for Kentucky is hopefully well known. I usually don't like Connecticut much either, but I think the team this year was a little underrated all season, and I actually like Shabazz Napier. Not enough to root against the Spartans, but enough to appreciate how good he is.
That's it for tonight. Good luck to everyone tomorrow!!!!
