Sweet 16 - 2 teams decided

If you liked ugly basketball, this was the morning for you.  Louisville and St. Louis combined for a grand total of 41 points in the first half of their game.  That was good for the lowest point total of any game in the tournament so far.  Yuck.

The Florida / Pittsburgh games wasn't much better.  Well into the second half, I was still making the comment that Pittsburgh was averaging less than a basket every 2 minutes.  That's some pretty bad basketball.  It makes me wonder just how bad the really bad teams in the NCAA are if that Pittsburgh team could roll up 25 wins.  They looked pretty inept on offense.

The favorites both won, so there was no big surprises so far today.  Most people had both Floria and Louisville.  That should have been obvious given that they are the 1st and 4th most picked teams to win the whole thing.  It also means that there wasn't much change in the standings.  We averaged 3.7 points out of 4 compliments of 211 people going 2/2.  Another 33 went 1/2.  Sadly, that leaves us with 2 brackets that went 0/2 this morning.  Carrie P. #2 and John M. #1 both gut shutout picking Pittsburgh and NC State to win those games today.  That particularly cripples John M. #1, dropping him from 61st to 202nd.  I still like the attempt.

Here are the standings:

There's 2 more games coming up though, and they might lead to more separation.  At least I'd like to think so.  I'm donning my Texas T-shirt in a blatant betrayal to my home state.  Here are the pick distributions for the 2 games coming up:

Michigan: 215
Texas: 15
Other: 16

San Diego State: 190
North Dakota State: 13
Other: 43

Should I be worried that soooo many people have almost the exact same picks in this thing?  Maybe?  Maybe there will be more separation as more games are played.  I really don't like using tie-breakers, so I hope that something positive happens on this front.

Go Aztecs!!!!
