It's halftime of my WMU / Syracuse game and I have some time to figure out some stats. The first is that with everything I've got, I don't have a blank bracket to fill in, which would be really helpful. I am at my brothers place, so I don't know how to print anything. Booo...
Anyway, WMU started of the second half on the right foot. Time for a mighty comeback for the Broncos.
If anyone thought we there was going to be a perfect bracket, I am here to rain on your parade. 3 games in to the tournament and we have <10% of brackets that are clean. That includes a Wisconsin game in which exactly 0 people took American. That doesn't mean good things for a perfect bracket.
I am closing off entries, so if you aren't in by now, you can go pound sand. The final tally is 247 entries. It was a ton easier to enter this year since there were only about 50-60 that I needed to enter after the tipoff. I liked that. I think next year, I won't even bother with the on-line registration. You can use whatever you want to generate a bracket as long as you send it to me.
Anyway, there are 3 games going on right now, so here are the pick distributions:
Cincinnati: 147
Harvard: 100 (Harvard has been winning all the way so far, BTW)
Syracuse: 216
Western Michigan: 31 (probably skewed high for a 3/14 game compliments of my home town friends)
Oregon: 190
BYU: 57
Good luck to everyone. I'll be back with more updates and standings later. Good luck!!!!!
Also a big shout out to Alex Nieto. He gave me some code I used to do the rankings which is really, really slick. I am a bit of an Excel junkie, so I find this kind of stuff really interesting.
