2023 March Madness - eliminations for 1st 2 games on Thursday

This is the last post of the day.  I’ve mentioned eliminations in the last few posts, and that’s what this post will touch on.

Starting on Thursday night, the NCAA will play 4 games a night, with the first two games staggered about 45 minutes apart from each other.  That means that games will be played simultaneously.  That kind of sucks for hard-core viewers, but probably works for people that actually have to work during the day.

So, I put together eliminations for both early games.  The bad thing about this is that these are just the games that we can identify as being the result of a single game.  For example, you may not be eliminated by a result of Game 1 or Game 2 respectively, but you could be eliminated by a combination of results of the two games.  I’ll post the updated matrix between games, so you can tell if you are still alive.  I will also post an updated eliminations for the second set of games between games.

If this looks like a lot of carnage for each of these games, remember that we currently have 153 entries that are alive for only 4 spots.  Many of those entries are alive for any of the 4 spots, so it’s something like 519 intersections we need to get down to 4.  That means a lot must happen in 15 games.
