 Apparently, with the notable exception of Kentucky, this tournament really is starting to look like the blue blood invitational.  I mean, outside of Providence, we have Michigan, UCLA, North Carolina and Kansas in the Sweet 16.  That’s a lot of career program wins.

UCLA did what you want a high seed to do if you have them.  They just slowly built a lead over time.  Then you look up and somehow they are up 12-15 points.

Fun fact.  The first college t-shirt I ever bought that wasn’t from a school that I went to was Nex Mexico State.  They had just won me a bunch of money by being an absolutely awful football team more than 10 years ago.  To honor this ineptitude (and the money I made off of them), I bought a t-shirt from there.  It’s boring.  It’s just grey and says “New Mexico State” in magenta block letters, but it was the start of something.  Fun times…  I hope they win this game.  I’ve got nothing against Arkansas, lthough I would never live there personally whereas I hear New Mexico is nice.  The basketball team can pull some upsets sometimes.  Plus, those Todd Day / Lee Mayberry / Oliver Miller / Corliss Willimson teams in the 90s were really fun.

What’s the difference between this game and the Baylor / North Carolina game?  Baylor and Gonzaga were both #1 seeds.  North Carolina and Memphis were ranked really high in the pre-season and struggled to make the field – but they both still have a ton of talent.  If I was rooting for Gonzaga, I would be a little on edge here.  Memphis doesn’t suck.  They could make it interesting.  Say what you want about Kentucky losing, but if Gonzaga happened to get knocked off, that would explode a lot of brackets…..
