We (and by we, I mean I) didn’t get my blowout victory for Arizona in that last game. As a matter of fact, if it weren’t for a really long three pointer, Arizona wouldn’t even have made it into overtime. If the Arizona player lays the ball up at the buzzer instead of dunking it, all the stress could have been avoided. That would have been nice. I’m sure my wife and my cats would have appreciated not having me sweat that last game as well.
So, today was another interesting day. Some big name teams got knocked out that most
people didn’t see coming (Wisconsin & Auburn). Some favorites advanced, but I’m not sure how
many of them actually sailed through.
Maybe Miami? Maybe Houston? That’s about it. Everyone else was close with the clock
winding down.
No one went 8/8 today.
A lot of people could have, but the best anyone did was 6/8, and that
was done by 39 entries. That means the
standings moved around a bit, but there wasn’t any big breakout winner. I think the trick today was to avoid having
your Elite 8 and Final 4 teams get knocked out.
As of right now, there are 23 people that can still get all their
Final 4 teams. One of those is Roth W.,
who can only get 4/8 in the next round, but those 4 just happen to be the teams
he picked for the Final 4.
The 3 brackets that can still win the most points from here
on out are: Dustin B., Kristina H. and Karen Ch. They are only missing one team from their Elite
8 and nothing else. Amazingly enough none
of those three picked Baylor or Kentucky.
Dustin is missing Auburn.
Kristina is missing USC and Karen is missing Wisconsin. Not crazy picks, but good picking by these
three for sure.
So, I’ll put out the standings as they are right now, and
then I’ll go into my lab and figure out the probabilities for winning 1st,
2nd, 3rd and 4th. I’ll send those out probably tomorrow. I’ll also have some other interesting stats
to throw out there as well – if I can remember how my macros work.
