Sweet 16 - 2 teams in

 I thought for a few minutes there that Creighton was going to pull off the upset today.  I think they were down 1 point in the last 2-3 minutes, but they really played the last few minutes horribly.  How did San Diego State ever lose to this team?!?!  Ugh.  So, the underdog has covered the spread in both games today, and this last game was supposed to be the biggest blowout of them all.  Maybe that means we’ll have even more upsets.  Since my bracket is getting destroyed, I might turn the corner here and start rooting for chaos – like St. Mary’s in the Final 4.  If I can’t get a lot of points, at least I can pull for everyone else to not get more points.

You all know my opinion about Michigan being in the tournament.  I have a counter argument for people that would argue that the fact that they won games means that they “deserve” to be there.  Richmond, New Mexico State and St. Peter’s won games too.  Did they deserve to get an at-large bid if they didn’t win their conference tournaments?  I bet most of you would say no.  Just because you “can” win games doesn’t mean you deserve to get a bid.  If the criteria is “ability to win a game”, you may as well expand the field to 128 teams.  Anyway, there aren’t too many hotter teams than Tennessee.  That being said, a) it’s a 1-game tournament and b) Rick Barnes has a terrible track record in the tournament.  It was hard to see in the first round, but until he breaks through somehow, it’s not super easy to trust him.

This was the part of the bracket where everyone nailed the wrong upset.  A ton of people had Providence losing and Iowa winning.  We could not have been more wrong.  These 42 people that can win points here have a definite advantage over the field.  Speaking of which, this is where the “All Chalk” bracket could pick up points.  I was checking that bracket, and it currently is in 69^th place in net points.  That’s pretty bad for an all chalk bracket.  Now that I will give away the money if that bracket wins, I am not as down on it as I typically am.  Usually it’s one of the best days of the tournament when an all-chalk bracket gets eliminated.  Now I’m not so sure.
