We are finally into the last 4 games of the first day, and
we finally had some sanity restored to the picks. All 4 higher seeds won, although some of the
games were pretty close. None of the
underdogs could manage to get over the hump.
Exciting, but chalky. 56 people
managed to go 4/4, so that's some much needed points to our little group.

But there are 4 more games being played to finish the day.
The first game is already at half time and LSU is pretty
much dominating the game. Here are the
stats:
NC State: 113
LSU: 93
Vegas line: NC State -2.5
Ouch. Barring a huge
comeback, it looks like NC State is going down.
That makes things interesting since a know a few people had NC State
going a long way, and very few had LSU winning many games.
The second game is Arkansas / Wofford. The particulars are:
Arkansas: 163
Wofford: 43
Vegas Line: Arkansas -7.5
This was a mildly trendy pick. Not as trendy as SF Austin, but trendy as any
5/12 game is. Right now the game is tied
at nearly half time. Maybe this is the
12 that beats a 5. There's always one,
and we are down to 3 left that can do it.
The third game is Kentucky / Hampton. Do I need to comment on this game? I may not watch a second of this game. Here are the particulars. Nothing here will come as a surprise:
Kentucky: 206
Hampton: 0
Vegas Line: Kentucky -34
Zzzzzzz........
The last game is the big one for me. As I mentioned earlier today, I am wearing my
Eastern Washington T-shirt in hopes they can pull the upset of Georgetown. Here are the stats:
Georgetown: 160
Eastern Washington: 46
Vegas Line: Georgetown -7.5
It's remarkable how the Vegas line and the pick distribution
of the 2 games are so similar. It's like
there's some underlying force making those two things correlate, even though
there was essentially no collaboration on all the picks. I love that.
Then again, I have a degree in stats, so things like this would interest
me.
Good luck to everyone.
I'll be back later tonight with a final wrap up of the day.
