1st Round - 1/4 in

We are 8 games into the tournament and only 4 people have managed to NOT lose at least one Sweet 16 team (Brandon H., Bhav R. #2, Marissa W. #1, Marissa W. #3).  That's pretty amazing from those 4 brackets.

Technically Ohio State was an upset of VCU, since they were a 10 beating a 7.  Like I mentioned before, more people took Ohio State, so the impact was minimized.  VCU certainly had some chances at winning that game, but they had some costly turnovers and some missed easy shots.  Sadly, that means my wife's favorite coach is gone from the tournament.

There were some people that had VCU going quite a ways.  11 people had them in the Sweet 16.  5 had them in the Elite 8 and 3 people had them in the Final 4 (Brian G. #2, Jack Q. #1, William G. #1).  I like the picks.  Sadly, they didn't work out this time.

Mississippi / Xavier was kind of a game we had on in the background.  It didn't seem like Ole Miss ever really threatened Xavier.  12 people had Ole Miss in the Sweet 16.  Nobody had them going any further than that, so damage to brackets as a whole was pretty low for this game.

The average number of points is 4.09, so a little over half.  Yikes....  Some big upsets really hurt this number.  The average amount lost is -14.77.  Obviously, that number is skewed since it's easier to lose points in future rounds currently, but it's worth looking at.
