It's about halftime of the early games, and it looks like we
are going to have nailbiters in both of them.
Baylor is currently losing, which makes me kind of happy, mostly because
I have SMU in the Sweet 16 and it's nice when I can wish my own bracket good
things while simultaneously crushing the dreams of countless other
brackets. I mostly like to reward people
for picking upsets to happen because I feel like it takes a certain amount of
bravery to do that, but if the person that is picking those upsets is me, then
what could be better. I also pull for
people in my family. There is really only
one person that I am steadfastly pulling against, and that is Gutless
Jack. No one should ever pick only by
the seeds. That is cowardly on a grand
level. Shame!!!
But there are 2 more games about to go off, so I have some
updates.
Arkansas / Seton Hall
Seton Hall: 141
Arkansas: 84
Vegas Line: Pick 'em
I would have thought this one would be more even. This is the very definition of a tie-breaker
game. Only 4 people have the winner this
game winning another game, and the highest ranking of those people is Irene H.
#2, who is currently in 169th place. I
guess Arkansas in the Sweet 16 would really move her up the standings. For the rest of us, this is just another
opportunity to get 1 point. I am
struggling to see why this game is so lopsided.
I don't think there is a subset of my pool that is from the East Coast
or Seton Hall is particularly interesting.
These seem like roughly equivalent mid-tier power conference schools.
Oregon / Iona
Oregon: 222
Iona: 3
Vegas Line: Oregon by 14.5
Oregon is a very trendy pick, since they were a #1 seed last
year, and they were highly ranked most of the season. I think they lost a player prior to the
tournament, and I think if he was playing, they would have been seeded
higher. 32 people have Oregon in the
Final 4. 73 people have them in the
Elite 8 and 169 have them in the Sweet 16.
I'm sure those people are hoping for Oregon to cruise to an easy
victory. Iona has been pretty decent in
the past, so maybe they can pull a stunning upset here. I would enjoy that as well.
Good Luck to everyone (especially me and my family)!!!!
