NCAA Tournament - After Day 1

So, the first day is over, and there were only 2 "upsets" and both of them were entirely predictable.  The trick was actually predicting them on your sheet.  Six people managed to finish the day 16/16.  Of those 6, 4 belong to the Nieto family:  Daisy has 3 of the 6, and Alex has 1 of the others.  Only Mike S. and Chris T. managed to go 16/16.  There were another 25 people that went 15/16, including Daisy another 4 times.

The average bracket today wound up with 12.61 points, which is a lot over the course of 225 brackets.   Here is the distribution:

The average bracket wound up losing 5.34 points today.  That makes sense, since 111 brackets managed to not lose a single Sweet 16 team.  Another 62 people managed to only lose one Sweet 16 team.  This makes me think that it's going to be a tight pool this year.  I thought it would be wide open, and it still can be.  Maybe the upsets will happen tomorrow, or maybe they will occur in the later rounds.  They have to happen sometime, if only for the reason that the Gutless bracket can't win.  I really hate the Gutless bracket.

These last 4 games were pretty much according to the seeds.  Some of the games were well played and fun to watch, but they are missing that little extra something when the favorite pulls away at the end.  I like the excitement that comes with a big upset.  I haven't had that fun yet this tournament.  Only 22 people went 4/4, but the overall average across the 4 games was 3.29 points.  Everybody got a point for Arizona.  That helps....
