 Creighton v Oregon was another incredible game.  Life must be good if you are in Pittsburgh and were able to get a ticket to tonight’s set of games.  Both games in Pittsburgh went to OT, and the Creighton game went to double OT.

What that means is that every favorite won today.  Great day for chalk.  I hope that doesn’t continue tomorrow.  I really want to see some upsets.  It will still be fun, but I like seeing the excitement that lower seeds get when they knock someone off.  It’s so much fun to see.  I missed that today.

There aren’t many games left in this region, so you are seeing a lot of consolidation of odds.  Again, there are a lot of scenarios where it ends in a tie, which is why the total is over 100%.

Let’s look at the overall regional data.  Let’s start with the East.  April K. started the day with the only perfect East bracket, and she still is.  Fun fact, there were 151 people that went 2/2 in the East and are eliminated from winning because of losses elsewhere in the bracket.  You had to go 2/2 today to stay alive in the East.  If you lost one of the games today, you are dead.

In the West, it was the 1 & 2 advancing today.  That means that 208 people went 2/2 today.  There are still 6 people that still have a perfect bracket in the West, including 3 entries by Brent E.  I personally like the fact that Finn D. is alive in this region, with only 5 points win so far.  He has Grand Canyon beating Clemson to make the Final Four.  If that happens, he’s is going to come all the way back and win.  Gotta love it.  I kinda hope that happens.

In the South, there was only one game today, and it was the much-anticipated 11/14 matchup.  The game was fantastic.  If you got points for NC State, you were more than likely going to 17/30 people that got points for NC State are still alive to win the South.  On the flip side, 14 people got no points in this game, and are still alive to win the South.  That means we don’t have a ton of clarity on this region.

The only region that had 3 games in it was kind of chalky.  How chalky has this bracket?  There are still 5 people that have perfect brackets, including three of them who are my wife.  The only people still alive in this region that didn’t win all three games today were Alyssa B. (Gonzaga v Creighton in the Finals) and Chris E. (Creighton v Utah State in the Finals).  The only game left is the 1/9 seed tomorrow, so we might have a 1/2/3/5 region.  Yuck.

Let’s get to the overall picks for today.  Pretty easy to pick games today.  Just take the favorite, or the lower seeded team (except Gonzaga over Kansas, which wasn’t too hard to predict).  That’s boring.  Even so, we only averaged 10.69 points per entry.  I would’ve thought it would be more.  Then again, a lot of people got nothing for NC State.

We did have 2 people go 8/8 today.  Dan L. #1 started the day in 146^th place, and after having a perfect day is now in 23^rd place.  Eric S. #2 also went 8/8 today.  He went from 74^th to 9^th today.  Impressive.

There are 10 people right now that can win all the remaining points.  Every one of them has Connecticut, San Diego State, Houston, Duke, Marquette and Purdue winning tomorrow.  That would be quite chalky.  3 of the 10 are currently sitting outside of the Top 100 (Elliot N., Hutch H. #2 & Melody K.).  Seems like a real chance for those brackets to move up.

I’m excited about the Sweet 16 being set after tomorrow.  I’ll have more about the eliminations and the matrix tomorrow.  I think a whole lot of teams are going to be alive for one of the 5 payouts.  247/274 (90%) of the entries still have their Champions alive.  76.28% of entries have both Championship finalists.  62.77% of entries still have all 4 Final 4 teams alive.  That is a ton of points people can get.
